| Notes | The ideologically founded restrictions on putting on Our Town in the preceding era of Nazi Germany gave the play an enhanced resonance in the years after the war. Both theatergoers and critics were in those years also united in responding to the ubiquity and success of many productions of Wilder’s Our Town (Zacharasiewicz, Transatlantic Networks 284-85). |
