    Notes Pesch was a Jesuit and so-called social realist (Sozialrealist), "favoring a strong and active welfare state over the liberal minimal state […] of Mancesterism." While in close contact with leading German anti-Semites, such as Schmoller and von Stoecker, his strong disapproval of "blood-sucking vampires" were aimed at captialists regardless of their religion or race. Pesch's social realism became more influential in the US than Weiß' and many of his books were translated into English.
