Notes | The series follows a dark skinned girl named Doris who has an African American father and Austrian mother growing up with her great-aunt in Vienna after her mother's death during childbirth. Hartl paints contrasting images of racism in Austria and America, with Austria's racist past and present being somewhat ignored and America's racism and racist history being emphasised. |
