Notes | Inside Europe was newly updated and edited nearly every year until the beginning of World War II. It gives detailed insights into the landscape of political powers on the continent at the time. In writing this extensive work, John Gunther relied on his wide networks and his important role in the press club of foreign correspondents in Vienna. The book contains a somewhat stereotypical description of Austria's population (see Zacharasiewicz, Transatlantic Networks, p. 129). |
