Notes | The Jewish son of a senior ministry official in a family originally from Galicia, Prawy, loved the opera and became the private secretary of tenor Jan Kiepura whom he accompanied when emigrating to the US. Together with Georg Kreisler he participated in the entertainment of soldiers preparing for the D-Day invasion of 1944 . Back in Vienna he began popularizing US music and became known as the "Opernführer der Nation". |
