Notes | This camp, together with Camp "B" and Camp "I" were established upon the arrival of prisoners of war, Nazi sympathisers and refugees on the S.S. Duchess, S.S. Ettrick and S.S. Sobieski. After Paterson's visit in 1940, the detention camps were turned into refugee camps on 1 July 1941 which also changed the status of its habitants from "enemy aliens" to "friendly aliens". |
