Notes | The idea for this fund has been attributed to Liesl Frank, Charlotte Dieterle, as well as Paul Kohner. Paul Kohner encouraged many of his wealthy clients to donate 1% of their earnings to this fund. The EFF used its money to provide affidavits and travel funds to those still trying to flee Europe. Kohner also managed to convince Hollywood studies to offer contracts to European writers, such as Leonhard Frank, Heinrich Mann, Alfred Polgar, Alfred Döblin who were able to enter the US thanks to them. |
