Notes Similar to the Rockefeller Foundation, its goal is to increase human welfare. As the wealthiest private organisation in the late 1940s, it had the capacity to fund numerous programs that sought to increase democracy and development the world over (Duller 2021, 328). Unsurprisingly, due to its vast financial assets and undeniable links to the Wall Street and Washington, its political magnitude as a part of the US elite should not be underestimated (Duller 2021, 329). As a consequence, the desirable extent of the foundation's engagement in foreign policy was a topic of ongoing internal discussions.
