Notes | This conference, with the aim of establishing a joint European response to Marshall's plan, led to the tightened union between Eastern Europe. While Stalin initially sought to send satellite governments to the meeting ot sabotage it, he eventually demanded all of them to abstain from attending the event. The nations participating in the conference were Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Western Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom. |
